We’ve invested our research dollars in neurology and oncology Research & Development (R&D) for decades in our quest to tackle some of the hardest-to-treat neurological conditions and cancers. We take a disciplined, human biology-based approach to research and develop preventative and curative treatments that will hopefully transform the lives of people impacted by Alzheimers’ and other neurodegenerative diseases, as well as those living with cancer. 

We’re a global R&D organization with two Discovery Centers in the U.S.: 

  • Cambridge, MA draws upon Eisai’s cutting-edge strengths in human genetics, data sciences and precision chemistry to accelerate discovery of breakthrough immunodementia precision therapeutics. 
  •  Exton, PA develops precision oncology therapies by combining biologics expertise, our unique Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) technology, proprietary payloads and bispecific antibodies.

NEUROLOGY

Eisai's efforts are centered on dementia prevention and delay of progression via next-generation Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disease compounds now under development. We're also pursuing a new treatment for hypersomnia, as well as expanded indications and new formulations for existing products. Our current neurology R&D initiatives include:

ONCOLOGY

We are currently exploring more than one dozen molecules, formulations and combinations in clinical trials. Our current oncology R&D initiatives include: 
  • Tumor Micro-Environment  
  • Cell Differentiation and Cancer Stemness 
  • Immunosuppressive Myeloid Lineage and its impact on tumorgenesis 
  • Anti-angiogenesis as an important treatment for cancer  
  • Driver Gene Mutation and Aberrant Splicing in Cancer cells
